The safety and wellbeing of children is a responsibility shared by everyone involved in our Club, including players, parents, coaches, volunteers, officials and committee members.

Our Commitment to Children

We will:

  • Put the safety and wellbeing of children first.
  • Treat every child with respect and dignity.
  • Provide an environment where children feel safe to speak up and be heard.
  • Promote positive, respectful behaviour from players, parents, coaches and volunteers.
  • Take concerns about a child's safety or wellbeing seriously.
  • Respond appropriately to any allegation or concern about child safety.
  • Ensure coaches, volunteers and officials understand their responsibilities when working with children.
  • Follow the child safeguarding requirements of Australian Cricket and Cricket Victoria.

Everyone Has a Role

All Club members, coaches, volunteers and parents are expected to contribute to a safe environment.

Children should feel comfortable speaking to a trusted adult if something makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to raise any concerns with the Club as soon as possible.

Reporting a Concern

If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please report it to the Club's Child Safety Officer or a member of the Club Committee.

Concerns will be treated seriously and handled appropriately and confidentially, while recognising that information may need to be shared with the appropriate authorities where required.

Team Selection Policy

2026/27

At Emmanuel South Oakleigh Cricket Club, we aim to make team selection fair, transparent and focused on player development, participation and enjoyment

How are teams selected?

Selection considers a combination of:

  • Cricket ability, performance and potential
  • Training attendance and commitment
  • Match availability and reliability
  • Attitude, behaviour and teamwork
  • Player development and progression
  • Team balance and requirements
  • Age, safety and competition requirements

Selection is not based solely on statistics, batting or bowling performance.

Junior Player Development

For junior cricket, we place a strong emphasis on participation and development.

Where competition rules allow, players will be given opportunities to:

  • Bat
  • Bowl
  • Field in different positions
  • Develop new skills
  • Take on leadership responsibilities

Coaches may rotate player roles to help develop a broader range of cricket skills.

Playing Positions

Selection in a team does not guarantee a particular batting position, bowling allocation or fielding position.

Coaches may change player roles depending on development needs, match conditions, team balance and competition requirements.

Training & Commitment

Regular training and a positive attitude are important factors in player development and selection.

We understand that players may have other commitments. Families are encouraged to communicate absences with the coach or team manager.

Finals Selection

Finals are competitive matches, and selection may consider current form, performance, attendance, availability, team balance and the requirements of the competition.

For junior teams, player development and participation will continue to be considered.

Parents & Guardians

We ask all parents and guardians to:

  • Support their child and the team
  • Respect coaches, selectors, umpires and volunteers
  • Respect selection decisions
  • Avoid discussing selection concerns publicly or in team group chats
  • Raise genuine concerns respectfully through the appropriate Club process

Questions or Concerns

We understand that parents and players may sometimes have questions about selection.

Please speak respectfully with the coach or team manager first. If the matter cannot be resolved, it can be referred to the Junior Coordinator or Club Committee.

The Club is committed to providing a positive, respectful and safe environment for all players, families, coaches and volunteers.

This policy should be read together with the ESOCC Code of Conduct, Game Day Player Expectations, Cricket Victoria policies and the rules of the relevant competition.

Cricket & Club Operations Policy

2026/27 Season

Emmanuel South Oakleigh Cricket Club (Krushers) aims to provide a well-organised, positive and enjoyable cricket environment for all players, families, coaches and volunteers.w Title

1. Registration & Eligibility

  • All players must be correctly registered with the Club and the relevant cricket association before participating in competition matches.
  • Players must meet the registration, age and eligibility requirements of the relevant competition.
  • Player transfers, permits and clearances must be completed where required.
  • Parents/guardians are responsible for providing accurate registration and contact information.

2. Team Administration

Each team will have an appointed coach and/or team manager responsible for the day-to-day organisation of the team.

Team managers may assist with:

  • Match-day communication
  • Player availability
  • Team lists and administration
  • Scoring and match records
  • Ground and equipment arrangements
  • Communication between the team and Club Committee

3. Game-Day Responsibilities

Players and families are expected to follow the arrangements communicated by the coach or team manager, including arrival times, uniform requirements and match-day duties.

Parents may be asked to assist with:

  • Scoring
  • Ground preparation
  • Equipment
  • Team refreshments
  • Other match-day duties

The Club relies on families and volunteers to share these responsibilities.

4. Cricket Equipment & Uniform

Players are responsible for bringing the equipment required for their age group and competition.

Players should:

  • Look after their personal equipment
  • Wear the required Club uniform
  • Take reasonable care of Club equipment
  • Return Club equipment when requested

Any lost or damaged Club equipment should be reported to the coach or team manager.

5. Communication

The Club uses nominated communication channels to provide information about training, matches, events and other Club activities.

Players and parents are expected to:

  • Check Club/team communications regularly
  • Respond to availability requests when required
  • Provide reasonable notice when unavailable
  • Communicate respectfully with coaches, managers and other Club members

Team WhatsApp groups and other communication channels are intended for Club-related information and should be used respectfully.

6. Coaches & Volunteers

The Club values the contribution of coaches, managers, scorers and other volunteers.

All volunteers are expected to:

  • Act in the best interests of the Club and its players
  • Follow Club policies and competition requirements
  • Communicate respectfully
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries
  • Raise concerns with the appropriate Club representative

The Club encourages parents and members to support and respect volunteers, recognising that the Club relies heavily on their contribution.

7. Awards & Recognition

The Club recognises player performance, development, commitment and contribution throughout the season.

Awards may include:

  • Batting and bowling awards
  • Player of the Year
  • Most Improved Player
  • Best Fielder
  • Team or Coaches' Awards
  • Sportsmanship and Commitment Awards

Award criteria may vary between teams and age groups and will be determined by the relevant coach and/or Club Committee.

8. Club Facilities & Grounds

Players, parents and visitors are expected to respect Club facilities, grounds and equipment.

Everyone is responsible for helping to:

  • Keep facilities clean and tidy
  • Dispose of rubbish appropriately
  • Look after Club property
  • Follow venue and ground regulations

9. Competition Rules

All teams must comply with the rules and regulations of the relevant cricket association, Cricket Victoria and Australian Cricket.

Where a competition rule differs from a Club policy, the relevant governing body's rule will take precedence.

10. Concerns & Feedback

The Club welcomes constructive feedback from players and families.

Operational concerns should initially be raised with the relevant coach or team manager. Where necessary, matters can be referred to the Junior Coordinator or Club Committee.

Formal complaints will be managed in accordance with the Club's Complaints & Resolution Policy.

Our Commitment

ESOCC is run by players, parents, coaches and volunteers working together.

By sharing responsibilities, communicating respectfully and supporting one another, we can provide a positive cricket experience for everyone involved with the Krushers.
